A Return to the Chair

May 2, 2008

On April 7, 2008, I traveled to Harford County to work with my friend and writing partner, Janet Cunningham, again . She is very cool lady whom I met in the year 2000. Janet, among her many talents, is one of the leading regression therapist in the country. I did some work with her in early 2001, tapping into my unconscious, regressing through time, to gain insights about myself, my life and choices I was making. Over the last 3 years, Janet has been one of two people I have been sharing my life story with verbally. On this April afternoon, I returned to her chair to once again access my subconscious to bring forth what it has to express, about what is happening between in my life, as fresh awareness and source for guidance, insight, and probably some laughs.

This time I recorded our session, which is interesting just for the regression process. I must say, one of the most rewarding elements of my experience was to have Janet with me as we traveled my interiors. Since my first session with Janet, as a novice tapping into the unconscious – some 8 years ago now, I have become fairly adept at navigating my interiors. I often can induce this altered state myself, access my unconscious and work out issues, questions, and seek guidance. It’s been a lonely journey and I very much enjoyed having Janet hang with me this time.

I did not record the processing and interpretation Janet and I did after returning to a normal state of consciousness. It was rich. I highly recommend this type of therapy as a personal development practice. If you find yourself curious and think tapping into your unconscious might be for you, please feel free to connect with me. I am happy to talk about my experience and insights.

My insights from this session:

  1. It’s time for less seeking and striving.
  2. Hold loosely to my point of a stable triangle of relationships. Putting myself in the center to “manage” or direct or contain the dynamics drains energy and is not effective, at this point anyway.
  3. Part of my dynamic value is to be able to rise above, see the big and more of the whole picture and inform others from that perspective…while being a part of the process.
  4. The world I want to live in is here…it’s time to attract it to me. It’s both of this world and other worldly.
  5. I love playing in my interior world…and what fun it is to have a companion there!
